Using the New Lewex Full Pad System

1. This Thoroughbred horse has a relatively well-shaped hoof. I'm trimming enough sole and frog to form a nice cup. |

2. In this case, I will be using a Thoro'Bred #7 Queens Plate. |

3. Shaping is minimal for this foot; I just need to bring in the heels a bit. |
|
4. As with any other type of shoe fit, it's important that the shoe be as flat as possible. |
|
5. After the shoe is shaped, it is placed on the pad to insure that the
proper-sized pad will be used. The mesh of the pad combined with the flexible
hoof packing material allows the heels to expand together with the pad,
maintaining the natural hoof mechanism and preventing crushed heels.
